Meet The Team

Smitha Reddy, MD

Founder Board-Certified in Internal Medicine & Rheumatology | Certified in Functional Medicine
Smitha Reddy, MD

Dr. Smitha Reddy is the Founder and Medical Director of the Functional Health Institute, a functional medicine practice specializing in autoimmune disease, chronic inflammation and chronic pain. Certified in both Rheumatology and Functional Medicine, Dr. Reddy offers a unique blend of conventional medical expertise and systems-based, personalized care to members experiencing complex inflammatory and immune-mediated conditions.

With extensive training in inflammatory conditions, Dr. Reddy spent 15 years treating patients within traditional medical settings, where she saw firsthand the limitations of symptom-focused care. This experience led her to pursue advanced training in Functional Medicine, allowing her to address the underlying drivers of disease–including immune dysfunction, gut health, metabolic imbalance, environmental exposures, and lifestyle factors.

Dr. Reddy founded the Functional Health Institute with a clear mission: to lead a health revolution that empowers individuals to take back control of their well-being and achieve genuine, lasting transformation. She partners closely with members of the Institute, developing individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that support long-term healing and resilience. Her approach integrates advanced testing, nutrition and lifestyle interventions, and targeted therapies to address the root causes of chronic illness rather than simply managing symptoms.

She is deeply committed to patient education, empowerment, and compassionate care, and believes that true healing occurs when individuals are heard, understood, and actively involved in their health journey. Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Reddy enjoys cooking, learning, reading and spending time with her family

She believes in using small but consistent habits and changes to shift the current terrain in each person’s favor.

Nicole’s passion for functional medicine is rooted in personal experience. She understands first- hand the frustration that comes from brief, symptom-focused medical visits due to her own past chronic ailments, which led her back to study and on a path to seek deeper answers. By implementing targeted dietary and lifestyle changes, Nicole learned to listen to her body rather than silence its signals. She now supports others that choose to do the same.

Nicole believes true healing honors each person’s unique story, environment, values, and goals. She focuses on sustainable results that come from meeting people where they are, focusing on progress over perfection, and building habits that support long-term vitality–not burnout. She meets each member at the Institute where they are, and believes that health should feel supportive and achievable, not restrictive or overwhelming.
